Of all Chinese Smartphone makers, Huawei has successfully made it among the top players, in recent years. With its wide range of Smartphones, the Chinese manufacturer takes the third position in the list of world’s best Smartphone brands. Leaving behind OPPO, Vivo, Xiaomi, and other regional competitors, Huawei is now competing with global Smartphone leaders- Apple and Samsung. Today, the brand commands 9% market share and is enormously famous in European countries.
Over the years, Huawei has been changing its marketing strategies, and cleverly adapted to the changing faces of the industry. It’s branding tactics has resulted in an increase of sales from 7.3% in 2015 to 8.9% in 2016- a sharp 21% increase in just 1 year. Not just in a year, but since 2014, the brand has been consistently increasing its revenue figures. Its high-end devices like P9 and Honor V8 has made it to its current global rank.
Its mid-range and high-end products account for 52% if shipments in Q3 of 2016- a 3% rise compared to previous year shipments. In 2016, total 140 million phones were shipped to other countries- another marvellous 29% increase in global shipments. Not just individual models, the average sales of all Huawei models have been steadily on the rise year-on-year and quarter-on-quarter. In the first half of the year, sales drastically increased by 40% worldwide, with 77.4 billion phones. Compared to 2015, the brand has grown its global sales by 25%. Today, Huawei is available in more than 170 countries.
Where the Chinese Smartphone manufacturer is progressing, its other competitors have gradually made it low in sales. Huawei’s US and South Korean competitors saw a sharp decline in their sales by 4.3%. In 2016, Samsung shrank sales by 2% and the world’s most innovative Smartphone brand, Apple, has also decreased its revenue from earlier 15.9% to 14.4%. Besides Huawei’s efforts, the gradual decrement in the sales figures of its competitors also throws light on the fruitful prospects and possible opportunities to make it to No. 1.
No doubt that Huawei leads the Chinese market share with 17.4%; it has also made it well in the Western European regions. In 2015, the brand became a triumphant by exceeding the total sales order mark ($ 2billion) of Consumer Business Group (CBG). In two years, the brand has again been consistently increasing its sales by 45% year-on-year.
Notable models which gave the success are Nexus 6P, P9 Lite, Huawei G8, Huawei Union, among other names. Its highest selling models- P9 and P9 Plus has made it to 10million units, till date.
With all the above accomplishments, the largest Chinese Smartphone brand now looks forward to penetrating the high-end market of US. Currently, its US market share is only 0.4%. With the growing number of Smartphone users in India, the brand is also aiming at occupying 10% market shares. It is constantly innovating branding strategies and moving ahead with the global trends. For Huawei has conquered a lot, there lies a more prosperous future ahead.
