A good pair of headphones is underrated. It’s like a mattress, you don’t know what you are missing out on until you use a high quality one.
When people are buying headphones they look at all the wrong characteristics like design and they overpay for a below par headphone which just looks good but does not offer anything else.
Here’s what good headphones can do for you
- Better Focus
Headphones are great while working. Some people listen to ambient sounds to give them better focus. If you are using apps like Brain.fm then you need to use high quality headphones that have good noise cancellation features.
- Better protection for your ears
Good headphones also protect your ear drums by giving a rounded sound effect than a direct and sharp sound to your ears. It’s also padded for the same effect.
- Better quality sound
Bad headphones means bad music. If you haven’t experienced high quality music with high quality headphones then you would just assume there’s one type of sound. That’s not true. Quality really matters.

Plantronic’s BackBeat Sense
Battery : Battery Power Up to 18 hours wireless streaming, 21 days standby time, 180 days in DeepSleep mode*
Charge Time Up to 2.5 hours
Colours : Black and White
Range : Wireless Range Up to 100 meters/330 feet from phone or tablet with Class 1 Bluetooth
Let me start with color of the headphones, although the options read Black and White. It’s much more than that. For the white headphones the cups are a light brown and for the black headphones they are a darker brown. This, in my opinion makes it very attractive and one of the nicer looking headphones out there.
The headband is adjustable to fit your head to the level you want. The elasticity feels comfortable and this makes the headphone sit snugly on your head.
One of the cool features of the BackBeat Sense is a sensor which knows when the headphone is off your head. When you remove it from your head, the music stops and when you put it back on the music continues.
There are dual microphones which means you can hear yourself talk while you are on call and there isn’t that weird muffled noise where you can’t hear yourself talk.
There’s a small red button that you can use to stop the music and to hear the outside world without removing your headphones. There’s also an option to plug the wire and make it a wired headphone if the battery dies.
