The Xiaomi 12T Series feature two phones, the 12T and the 12T Pro. While the 12T is a good high-end smartphone, I am much more excited about the 12T Pro.
The Xiaomi 12T Pro is one of the first smartphones to feature a 200MP camera lens and it doesn’t disappoint (for the most part). On the other hand, the Xiaomi 12T uses a 108MP sensor.
On the front, both devices have the same display. A 6.67 inch AMOLED display with 120 Hz refresh rate and 480Hz touch sampling rate. Both displays are bright, sharp, and vibrant. You also get HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support.
Under the hood, the Xiaomi 12T is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8100 Ultra while the Xiaomi 12T Pro has the more powerful Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. You get to choose 8/12 GBs of LPDDR5 RAM and 128/256 GBs of UFS 3.1 storage.
The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is the fastest chip you can find on Android devices. This makes the Xiaomi 12T Pro better for performance and efficiency, but the 12T is no slouch either. You won’t miss much on performance, going for either model.
As mentioned earlier, the Xiaomi 12T Pro has a 200MP camera and it also features a middling 8MP ultrawide sensor and a bad 2MP macro sensor. Similarly, apart from the 108 MP sensor, the 8MP Ultrawide and 2MP Macro are poor. On the front, both smartphones have the same 20Mp selfie camera.
The Xiaomi 12T Series also have the same battery capacity across the board and they are impressive. Both the Xiaomi 12T and the Xiaomi 12T Pro feature 5000 mAh batteries with 120W fast charging capabilities. I was able to charge both devices in under 20 minutes. I wish they added wireless charging though.
Overall, the Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro are decent devices for the price. They have upgraded performance and cameras. And the display, battery, design, and build quality are all excellent. If you are in the budget range, then it is worth a buy.

The Xiaomi 12T Series falls in the premium midrange category. Both the Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro have the same design with small differences in detail. They look and feel great thanks to the matte design and glass back.
The more expensive 12T Pro has an IP53 rating for water and dust resistance while the regular 12T doesn’t have any official IP rating which is a bummer.
Both the Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro have volume rockers and power buttons on the right side. This is my preferred button placement as I can easily access the buttons as a right-handed person.
Unlike the last gen, the fingerprint sensors are under the screen now (previously it was in the power button).
Unfortunately, like most midrange and high-end phones, the 3.5mm jack is absent, while the USB-C port is at the bottom.
The Xiaomi 12T series features dual speakers with Dolby Atmos support, you can find them on the top and the bottom of the phone as well. However, the Xiaomi 12T Pro’s speakers are tuned by Harman Kardon, while there is no such branding for the 12T. The speakers are placed symmetrically and I love the stereo imaging they are capable of.
On the back, you can find a triple camera setup. I like the arrangement and the way it looks compared to competitors like OnePlus and Realme devices. You will notice that the Xiaomi 12T Series looks similar to the more premium Xiaomi 12 Series devices.
Overall, the design is simple and elegant and stands out for its price. The phones are also built well, with Gorilla Glass 5 protection and an IP rating (only on 12T Pro). I dig the symmetric stereo speakers and camera placement the most.
The phones can be large and hard to use for people with small hands, but for me, it was ergonomic and easy to use.
You can find the Xiaomi 12T Series in three color variants, Blue, Silver, and Black. Out of these, Blue is my favorite. The Xiaomi 12T series is some of the best-looking and best-feeling phones for the price.
Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro Display
Both the Xiaomi 12T and the Xiaomi 12T Pro gave the same displays and they are excellent. The phones feature 6.67-inch AMOLED panels with adaptive refresh rates. The displays are bright, vibrant, and stunning to look at.
With a resolution of 2712 x 1220 pixels and 446 PPI, the Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro looked sharp and clear no matter what I was looking at. The displays are better when compared to the last gen which is good to see.
Xiaomi didn’t cut any corners and offers a 120 Hz refresh rate and 480 Hz touch sampling rate with the 12T Series. This makes the phone feel fast, responsive, and smooth for browsing, gaming, and media consumption. The camera cutout is small and unobtrusive when watching shows or movies.
Ultimately, the Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro have some of the best smartphone displays, if not the best display for their price category. The display is bright for outdoor use, fast and responsive for navigation/gaming, and stunning for movies/videos.
I love the display on the Xiaomi 12T Series, they support Dolby Vision, and HDR10+ too. The display is also protected by Gorilla Glass 5 which is good to see at this price.
Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro Performance
The Xiaomi 12T Series have different processors, the cheaper 12T variant is powered by Mediatek Dimensity 8100 Ultra while the 12T Pro uses Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Both processors offer excellent performance and power efficiency.
The Xiaomi 12T Pro is easily the fastest phone in its price category, while the 12T comes in a close second. The Xiaomi 12T Series features the best RAM and storage technology too, LPDDR5 RAM, and UFS 3.1 storage.
Combining the processor, RAM, and Storage, you get a phone that is snappy and fast no matter what task you throw, including high-end gaming. You can choose the phone from 8/12 GB RAM options along with 128/256 GB storage options.
The Xiaomi 12T Series launched with Android 12 and MIUI 13, the latest Android and MIUI versions available at launch. The phones are fast, smooth, feature-rich, and fairly bug-free.
Overall, both the Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro perform nicely, the 12T Pro is the fastest phone you can get in its class.
Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro Cameras
The Xiaomi 12T Series camera gives me mixed feelings. Both devices have good primary sensors, but their secondary sensors are bad. Especially the Xiaomi 12T Pro has a really good 200MP camera, but the ultrawide and macro lenses are bad. So as an overall package, they are not that good.
Cameras on midrange phones can be iffy, they usually do good, but will have some obvious shortcomings.
The Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro feature a triple camera setup. The 12T has a 108MP primary wide lens with an 8MP Ultrawide and 2MP macro lens.
On the other hand, the 12T Pro has a 200MP wide lens, along with 8MP ultrawide and 2MP Telemacro lenses.
The 108MP and 200MP primary wide cameras are good for daylight conditions, while it struggles a little at night and indoors with artificial lighting. The 8 MP ultra-wide camera is ok for wide-angle shots. The 2MP macro lens is just garbage.
The Xiaomi 12T Pro shines when it comes to video recording. The phone supports up to 8K video recording at 30 fps and 4K video recording at 60 fps. There is support for slow video at 960 fps and HDR10+ recording. All these make the Xiaomi 12T Pro a versatile camera. But I wish there was OIS.
The 20 MP selfie camera is a good upgrade compared to the previous generation. It will make most users happy for the occasional selfie and video call. The phone tends to over-process images but nowadays almost all phones including flagships do this, which is a shame.
Overall, the Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro offer a good camera experience. It is not class-leading, but it holds its own against the competition. I think the Xiaomi 12T Pro only loses to Samsung A-Series and the OnePlus 10T.

Xiaomi has unchanged the battery tech for this generation, but they are still amazing. Both Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro offer high capacities and amazing charging speeds. Last year only the 11T Pro had 120W fast changing but this year both 12T and 12T Pro have 120W charging which is awesome.
Both phones come with a non-removable 5000 mAh Li-Po battery. With the large battery along and the efficient Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and Dimensity 8100 Ultra, the 12T Series can easily last a day and more.
And if you are low on charge, you can quickly charge your 12T smartphone from 0 to 100 in under 20 minutes. The 120W fast charging tech is becoming more common in premium mid-range smartphones and I love it. Xiaomi also says that there will be minimal battery life reduction even after 800 charge cycles.

The Xiaomi 12T Series starts at 749 SGD. The regular Xiaomi 12T starts at 749 SGD for the 8/128 GB version, while the 12T Pro starts at 999 SGD for the 8/128 GB version.
This is a significant increase in price compared to the previous generation. While the phones are good, I don’t think they are huge improvements to justify the price premium.

The Xiaomi 12T Series are decent devices with excellent on-paper specs. They have amazing displays, powerful performance, and long battery life with superfast charging.
However, they are a downgrade in some areas compared to the 11T series. The Ultrawide and macro sensors are poor, there is no Gorilla Glass Victus protection and no IP rating for the regular 12T. And all this while costing significantly more. This makes the Xiaomi 12T Series hard to recommend.
If you are in the market for a new premium midrange smartphone, then the Xiaomi 12T series offer a lot of positives, however, upgrading to them from last year’s Xiaomi 11T Series would not be wise. These are good phones but not priced well enough!
