One Plus has had a smooth few years with the success of their bestselling phone the One Plus 3. They just launched the One Plus 6 a few months back and now they are back with the One Plus 6T Singapore.
The T added to their phone models are a reference to the technology upgrades the initial model has gone through. Based on that logic, the 6T should be an advance on One Plus 6. Let’s find out!
The 6T has a massive 6.41-inch screen with an 85.6% screen to body ratio that is the highest among all One Plus phones.
The AMOLED screen has a notch that is smaller by a notch (Noo-pun intended). The display doesn’t lack, in fact, it’s pretty stellar.
The new addition to the display is the on-screen fingerprint sensor. This is not as fast as the dedicated button, but still works well enough.
The body has a glass finish with the back having a 3D glass. It comes in two colours – Midnight Black and Mirror Black.
The one glaring omission is the lack of headphone jack which is an annoyance for most Android users.
The primary camera is a dual set-up with 16MP + 20MP sensors. The camera app has been upgraded so it works faster and on top of that, a Nightscape mode has been added that takes better night shots.
The front camera is 16MP and arguably the best selfie camera for phones that are below the $600 price.
The 6T rocks a 3700 mAh battery and also supports fast charging. The battery life is way better than that of its predecessor.
It runs on Android 9 with Oxygen OS. Oxygen OS takes the best of stock Android and makes a few UI/UX changes that make life easy. The gesture control is improved and makes navigation easy.
Space is considerable with 128GB and 6GB or 8GB RAM. The numbers do the talking as they are more than sufficient for running multiple apps, multimedia or games like PUBG if you’d like.
It’s not a replacement to the 6, but an upgrade. A few flaws are the lack of headphone jack and a heavier phone. But overall, for its price point, this is a phone to watch out for.
