Another addition to the Xiaomi lineup for 2018 is the Redmi S2.
It’s a dual sim phone with an aluminium body and a glass front. The screen size is 5.99 inches which is a good sized screen for a phone of this range. It is a HD+ 2.5D curved glass IPL LCD display that has a resolution of 1440X720 pixels with an aspect ratio of 18:9.
It runs on the Android 8.1 OS with a custom MIUI 9 skin on top and is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8953 Snapdragon 625.
It has an internal memory of 64GB and 32GB (two versions) and a dedicated micro SD slot that can be expanded up to 256GB. It also has a 4GB RAM for processing for the 64GB version and a 3GB RAM for the 32GB internal.
It has a dual primary camera. 12MP(f/2.2 aperture, 1.25μm pixel size) and 5MP and it has a secondary 16MP camera which shows Xiaomi has focused on the selfie generation. The secondary camera has an LED flash and an AI beauty mode.
It has a fingerprint sensor in the back and all of this runs on a 3080 mAh battery. The connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and a 3.5mm audio jack. There is also an infrared port on the top.

At this price range, the Redmi S2’s main competitors are Asus Zenfone, Max Pro M1, Honor 9 lite.
The Redmi S2 is a phone that works. It has the specs, the looks are straightforward and performs as suggested. For people who aren’t that interested in smartphones or if you want to gift smartphones to your parents, this will be the ultimate choice.
