Firstly the design. The Mi Mix 3 has one of the most innovative designs we’ve seen on a smartphone. The main display is a 6.39-inch, full HD+ all display. This means the screen isn’t interrupted by a notch or a camera.
So where is the front camera?
The Mi Mix 3 is a slider that is similar to the N95. When you slide the screen down, you’ll see the camera. This is set-up using magnets.
The sliding feature can also be used to take calls along with the gesture touch. This sliding feature has a few drawbacks. The gap where the slider is covered in normal mode is bound to attract a lot of dust. If the sliding feature busts out, then you’ll have a phone that is sliding up and down without your supervision.
The slider also adds to the weight of the phone. At 215 grams, its one of the heavier smartphones out there.
The back of the phone has a fingerprint scanner. There is no 3.5mm jack on this phone considering its a flagship.
The 3200 mAh battery might not seem like much but it does last for an entire day and with the fast charging feature you won’t have to be worried about battery life.
Its a four-camera setup with the Mi Mix 3. The back cameras are a 12MP + 12MP. The phone enables a 2x zoom and a portrait mode. There is an HDR feature and an AI mode.
The AI mode recognises 27 different scenes and adjusts the settings accordingly. The front cameras are a 20MP shooter and a 2MP sensor camera. Every time you slide the phone, the camera app opens.
The night mode on this phone is amazing.
