Asus’s Zenfone Max Pro M series has taken Asus to the big leagues in the smartphone world. The Pro M2 is released to take this to the next level.
Firstly the build quality. Asus has moved from plastic and metal to an all 3D glass finish. The M2 has an arched look which is better for holding.
The back has a fingerprint sensor and the dual cameras.
The front of the phone has a big notch that houses the sensors, camera and the LED flash.
The display is a 6.26 inch LCD which is quite bigger than its predecessor which was at 5.99 inches.
The colours are rich and perfectly synchronized. The brightness levels, when used outside, are on point. The display of the Pro M2 is way better than the lower level M2.
The phone is powered by a 1.95 GHz octa-core, Qualcomm Snapdragon 660. This is a powerful processor that packs quite a punch and it suits gamers well.
Although there are 3 versions, we cover the 6GB RAM with 64GB of internal storage. The storage can be expanded up to 2TB with an SD card.
The phone has a fingerprint sensor and a Face Unlock feature that are both blazingly fast.
You would think, after doing all this, the M2 Pro would come with a custom OS, but in reality, they run the stock Android 8.1. They are hoping to come with their own software in the future, but that doesn’t have a definite timeline.
The primary camera of the Max Pro M2 is a dual set-up with a 12MP Sony shooter and a 5MP depth sensor. The cameras can record in 4k resolution.
The selfie camera is a 13MP shooter.
The cameras have the usual features that are expected from a mid-range smartphone.
The 5000 mAh battery is a standout. It lasts for easily a day and a half and according to Asus, it comes with a fast charging feature.
Overall, Asus has stepped up and have created a wonderful mid-range smartphone.
