Review of the Jet Black iPhone 7 – Looks and Design focussed

Jet black iPhone 7: User Experience

In September 2016, Apple announced the launch of another amazing phone- the Jet Black iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Soon after this announcement, people waited in anticipation and just couldn’t hold their breath to grab the glossy iPhone model. However, iPhone manufacturers indicated issues in producing mass quantities of handsets. Reports by KGI Securities Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo threw light on serious production problems along with delays in shipping facilities. Inside sources from Apple blamed the unfavourable weather and mechanical issues for the shipping inconveniences.
Amidst such circumstances, about 60% to 70% of iPhone 7 handsets had successfully passed the Apple’s quality and standard test. Although the model had been available since its launch, yet the glossy and beautiful jet black colour sold out the handsets, much before it was released in markets. According to Apple sources, they had to sell the phones to meet the pre-order period demand. Thus, those looking for the iPhone soon after its release in September, were asked to wait for three to five weeks to get the phone. And then citing shipping and production issues, Apple officially postponed its shipping to November. Until then, the model was available only in limited numbers in stores.
Jet Black was a buzz among the iPhone fans and other Smartphone users for its fine glossy mirror finish, which gave a bezel effect on the phone. For the first time, iPhone had a no-border device. This however meant a complicated manufacturing process, which took beyond the stipulated time.
After all the hassles, when the phone was finally available in sufficient quantities in the market, users were relieved. They greeted the iPhone with great enthusiasm and were more than happy to show-off their new Apple device. And while using the phone, people gradually realised that the best feature of the model had the worst outcome. They were definitely not happy with the scratches on the glossy finishing of their phone.

jet black iphone 7
Apple knew about this and the brand came up with a clear disclaimer stating that the glossy finishing has been achieved through a 9-step anodization and polishing process, which made it prone to scratches. Although the phone’s surface was as hard as the other anodized Apple models; its shinny finishing had high chances of developing micro-abrasions, with use. It warned its users of the potential threat and suggested protecting the phone with a case.
In spite of a fair and clear warning, the iPhone Jet Black users bought the model, ignored the statement and went ahead flaunting with their new phone and boasting its unique features. Gradually, after using it for a month or two; people started facing problems with the look and design- features that they had been proud off, earlier. The phone developed scratches on the Jet Black finish; however, it was not that noticeable in normal light conditions. The scratches were only visible at certain light angles, in the presence of bright light. Besides the glossy finishing, the phone looks great, and with all other features; serves excellent usability.

This model of the iPhone is the most expensive as of yet, and can cost anywhere from $800-1000.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

Samsung have been nipping at Apple’s heels for years now in the smartphone wars, but have yet to exceed their U.S rival in the global market. The S7 Edge has been the closest Samsung have got to making an iPhone-killing smartphone. With its dual curved display, decent battery life, fantastic camera and the latest Android OS available, the S7 Edge is an all-round gem of a smartphone.

Google Pixel XL

Google’s foray into smartphones has been spotty at best, with a lot of failed models that never caught on. However, the tech giant threw everything they had at the Google Pixel XL, and as a result it is close to a gadget masterpiece. With a beautifully sleek and ergonomic design, the Pixel XL blends glass into the phone’s metal casing to make for a gorgeous piece of kit. It also boasts a hefty Snapdragon processor and a fantastic camera, too.

OnePlus 3T

If you are wanting something a little different, then look no further than the OnePlus 3T smartphone. The 3T is a great alternative to the big guys, and features a wide range of bespoke features. Review of Huawei Honor 8 Singapore

huawei honor 8 price

The Honor series of Huawei had some pretty interesting offerings but the one that amazed the people most was 2015’s Honor 7. That mobile phone was very good in performance only except in the department of the battery where the performance was seriously very poor. Now literally after one year in October 2016, Huawei came up with their latest addition in the Honor series, Huawei Honor 8.

This successor of Honor 7 has been priced high $500 range in Singapore thus it is placed in the upper tier of the mid budget smartphone range. Due to the price range in which it falls, the phone is directly in the line of cross fires between OnePlus 3 and Asus Zen Fone 3, both of which has proven to be excellent choices for people.

There is no denying that Huawei Honor 8 Singapore has some excellent features and specifications. But can it be helmed as a giant killer in the market? Well, there is only one way to find out. Let’s review this newly launched model from Huawei and find out.

huawei honor 8 price in singapore

Design and Build up:

In Honor 8, the usual design  that we have seen  for the other Huawei phones have been completely overhauled and new interesting features have been added which do not only provide the smartphone with a striking look but also increases its aesthetic value. There are few elements that have been conceived from Samsung A-series of 2016 like the metal frame sandwiched in between two sheets of glass. Though these gives a wonderful look to the phone but it also makes the phone very slippery which you will start to feel within few days of buying the phone. There is another problem, finger imprints all over the phone which is caused due to the slippery surface of the mobile phone and it does actually make Honor 8 look dull.

The Honor 8 has a 5.2inch 1080p full HD display along with a pixel density of 423 pixels per inch. The text in Honor 8 is razor sharp, the colours are very vibrant, the angles for viewing are highly commendable and you will also customise your display by going to the display settings panel. The phone also has tiny borders in either side of its screen which makes the Honor 8 highly convenient for one hand use. This newly launched smartphone is also very light in weight at 153g thus you will never have to feel the burden.

Specifications and features:

The phone has a ton of most amazing features and there is no denying in it. Honor 8 is powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core KIRIN 950 SoC processor with the aid from 4GB RAM. Though the number of the KIRIN 950 SoC processor is still not on par with the Snapdragon 820 processor but if you are comparing on the real world usage then it will be hard to tell the difference between these two chipsets.

Honor 8 also has an internal memory of 32GB and it can be expanded to 128GB by using a micro SD card. The smartphone runs on a 3000mAh non-removable battery and the battery department surely has improved a lot than that of its predecessor.

As far as camera is concerned, the Honor 8 comes with a 12MP rear camera and a front camera of 8MP.The phone captures truly amazing picture and it can also be customised to only focus on the objects within 2 metres of the photographer by blurring the background. The phone also supports 4k media playback and also accepts 3G/4G nano SIM.

The Honor 8 is no doubt one of the best phones in the market and is on par with its competitors OnePlus 3 and Asus Zen Fone 3. Though the slippery body needs to be improved but overall this smartphone is a real winner.

Google intends to beef up current software for their own smartwatch, which could launch any time this year.

Windows 10 Virtual Reality

Windows’ current operating system is expected to receive a substantial update early this year, geared towards virtual reality headset compatibility. This update opens new doors for VR headset usage – at the moment your only realistic choice is the Oculus rift, which costs $600. Among other features, its unibody design, low-light performance camera, quick tools and customised apps make it a must-have phone, especially for the smartphone crazy people.

Look and Feel
With a slightly curved and melted 3D glass, Samsung has introduced an entirely new look, feel and design in its S7 series. The 5.5 inches phone comes in a sleek design along with narrow metal edges and features quad-HD display. Its dual curved edges make it handy and easy-to-manage. The uniqueness of the design lies in auto-reflections by the curved glass. The remarkable screen enhances the visual appeal of texts, films, images and games. Swiping through the gallery, its pixels are just invisible to the naked eye. While Apple iPhone 7 had to develop a “9-step anodization and polishing process” to achieve its glossy Jet Black finish, Samsung’s design is simplistic: Gorilla Glass 4 on top of a glossy piano black finish.

The single layer UI design provides great interface to the users. The “Always-On Display” feature is another addition to the user-friendly experience. There’s an app drawer which enables users to switch to the single-layered UI and move all the icons to the home screen. Also, the extreme left of home screen has a news reader, powered by Flipboard. In an alternative to the default wallpapers and icons, the phone has a special theme store corner offering wide range of free and paid icons and wallpapers. With such software features, S7 Edge is flexible and innovative.
The 5.5 inches diagonal phone has super amoled panels along with a resolution of 1440*2560 pixels. Its 3600mAh battery provides more than sufficient storage. Users shall also enjoy 4GB RAM and 32GB or 64GB of fixed storage. Besides these, the phone’s Micro-SD card can store 200GB of data. Users also get 4.2 Bluetooth, b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi, NFC, ANT+ and GPS, all of which provides a wonderful experience. Not to miss, the USB-OTG, which comes complementary.
Camera is yet another unique feature of this Galaxy model. Its 12MP primary sensors and optical image stabilization accounts for best-quality image. The bigger physical pixels increases the autofocus speed, captures more light and allows users to click pictures, even in the dark. Low-light camera performance is exclusive to this model.
Talking about the camera app, it’s loaded with quite a lot of controls and features. Motion Photo allows users to buffer their video for few seconds and save it while pressing the shutter button. Double-tapping the home button anytime within any application takes users directly to the camera. Another noteworthy feature is the Virtual Shot which enables users to get a 360° view by circling around an object. Slow motion, selective focus and hyperlapse are some exciting downloadable modes. Real-time selfie, animated GIF and dual-camera altogether sums into an overwhelming experience of the new Samsung S7 model.
Thus, with the above interesting features and technical specifications; Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Black Pearl Singapore price is unknown for now. From the design to the camera to the software; the phone happens to be most advanced and innovative, in today’s age and time.
